Eastnor Probate Material 1701 and later

Gravestones in the churchyard at Eastnor 17 June 2008

The volume of surviving probate material increases after 1701, but the value of the documents to the local and the social historian declines as gradually the number of inventories deccreases and as testators tended to make less detailed disposition of their household and personal belongings. Consequently a systematic transcription of probate material has not been undertaken. The material relating to important people in the parish, particularly the rectors and the lords of the manor, will be added as they come to hand.

William Stone, rector, 1701
