Will of John Traherne, rector, 1751

This is a transcript of the will of John Traherne, dated 13 June 1751 and proved at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury on 28 July 1753. His burial is recorded in the parish registers thus: '‘The Revd Mr Jno Trahern Rector of this Parish was buried on 21 June 1753'. In his will he asked to be buried inside the church, 'within the rail, on the south side of the communion table'. There once was an inscription in the church, recorded by the Rev. William pulling before teh church was rebuilt in 1851:

Here lieth the body of JOHN TREHERNE Clerk [....?] of London [....?] Domestic C[haplain …] Ironside Bishop of Hereford and Rector of this Church 52 years. He died June [....?] in the 79 year of age, Anno Dom. 1757 [sic, really 1753]
