Will of Rowland Braunch, yeoman, 1636

This is a transcript of the nuncupative will of Rowland Branch, yeoman, made on 9 May 1636, two days before he was buried. The will was proved on 23 June 1636.

He was  37 years old, having been baptised on 4 March 1599, and may have been taken ill suddenly as he did not have time to have a written will drawn out. Despite his status of yeoman, and the will being proved at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, his affairs may not have been prosperous, for the document says that  'being told that if he died his wife would be but little the better for him, he said he would give unto her all that he had, save only his wearing apparel which he would dispose of at his pleasure'.
