Barret, a yeoman, had 200 sheep, six carthorses, 10 cattle and also wheat in ‘Cliddesden fields’ and in ‘Basingstoke fields’.  His inventory provides a good example of household goods, including 'a nut tipped with tin' and farming produce of the period; the value was appraised at £263. He left 3s. 4d. to the poor of the parish as well as gifts to Cliddesden church and  Winchester cathedral.
