Dunster bridges

Gallox Bridge, Dunster

The river Avill rises in Cutcombe parish on Exmoor and flows down to Dunster and Marsh to the Hawn or Haven of Dunster into the sea. The complexity of roads and tracks in the Avill valley required the construction of many bridges from the Middle Ages. The most famous bridge is Gallox Bridge but several fine 18th-century bridges also cross the river.
