Will of Thomas Hall, senior, clothier, 1641

Hall was a wealthy clothier who left bequests to a wide range of people. This was accentuated as he appeared to have no living children at the time of his death. His will is particularly interesting in listing his properties in Basingstoke, including the three which he left to the bailiffs and burgesses of the town of Basingstoke to provide housing for three poor widows.
