Will of John Webley the elder, husbandman, 1614

This is a transcript of the will of John Webley the elder, husbandman, dated 28 August 1614. When he was buried on 31 August 1614 he was described as a householder. The will was proved on 23 September 1614.

As was usual, he left his goods to his wife Elionor for her life, though she could not sell anything without the consent of John Webley (not described as such, but perhaps their son). He also made it clear that she was to have use of half the house: 'unto Elinor my wife and my executrix the use, occupation and profit of all that part of my now dwelling house from the entry or alley southward, together with half the backside and gardens with free ingress, egress and regress into and from the said part of the said dwelling house, backside and gardens'.
