Will of John Morley, gentleman, 1638.

Morley was described as a gentleman, with sword and belt, who was involved in the traditional role of the gentry in defending the kingdom: he left 20s. to the trained bands (militia) of the town of Basingstoke. His house was the George in Basingstoke and he possessed other properties, leases and lands.
