Will of John Hooker/Hokar, 1541

Hooker’s will is interesting as it shows that parts of Newnham are divided into closes rather than being farmed in open-field agriculture. In total five closes are bequeathed. The bequests also show that the crops being cultivated were wheat, barley, oats and peas.
