Will of John Holmes, yeoman, 1653

Holmes rented out the Phoenix Inn in Basingstoke and wished his debts of £110 to be paid out of the rents received as well as paying out an annuity to his wife. The inn had 20 acres attached to it and he also had a lease on a house in Southampton. Further land and possessions left to his son in the will of his father John (d. 1646), were bequeathed to his widow to look after during his minority. No inventory survives.
