Will of Henry Dummer of Dummer, 1540

Dummer’s will was written in Latin in 1516 but not proved until 1540. He was the lord of the manor and left modest gifts to the churches in Winchester and Dummer. Three of his four children were to receive a tenement each. 140 sheep and six cows were to be divided between them. His wife inherited the rest of the manor with the condition that she did not make ‘large cuts in the woods’. He asked to be buried in Dummer church in front of the image of All Saints.
