Will of Benjamin Woodroffe, 1770

Benjamin Woodroffe, rector of Cliddesden and Farleigh Wallop, 1760 to 1770

Strong anti-popery views are recorded in this will. Benjamin Woodroffe left £10 to the poor of the parish of Cliddesden cum Farley and £10 to the poor of Over Wallop, where he was also rector. Dispensation for holding two rectories was granted by the Bishop as they were less than thirty miles apart. Woodroffe was also a prebendary of Winchester Cathedral where an armorial ledger stone lies in his memory.
