Will and Inventory of William Frie/Fry/Frye, 1612

Frye’s inventory totalled £201 and shows him to have been a large sheep farmer (280 ‘of all sorts’) and grain producer. He left 6s. 8d. to the poor of the parish, 1s. to Cliddesden church and 6d. to Winchester cathedral. His four servants received ewes or lambs; his six children were left sums between £10 and £20. Frye’s father, Thomas (d.1596) was a wealthy husbandman; William’s status is not given.
