Will and Inventory of Thomas Walker 1549

Walker’s will indicates that his gift of 6s. 8d. to Cliddesden church would buy him burial in the church and he also gave 4d. to the high altar and made a generous bequest to the poor of 26s. 8d. He appears to have married Maud, widow of John Belchamber (d.1546) and to have moved from Basingstoke to live at Penns (Pensdell). The tools and materials in his shop, listed in his inventory, show his involvement in the cloth industry and he also had considerable arable land and some cattle. His goods were valued at just over £91.
