Will and inventory of Thomas Mathew, 1568

Mathew, the younger son of a Glamorganshire family, leased the Hoddington estate from Sir Thomas White, Lord of the neighbouring manor of South Warnborough and his descendants continued to lease the property until it was bought in 1637 by his great, great grandson Brian Mathew. He left bequests of sheep and cattle to his three brothers and the residue to his wife, Clemens. His estate was valued at £9 14s. 8d.
