Will and inventory of Richard Amblin/Amlin, 1621

Amlin/Amblin was a mixed farmer with 6 cows and 4 bullocks but also wheat and oats. William Amblin was his father's executor but the will was contested by Susan Amblin alias Alsey, wife of John Alsey of New Alresford and sister of William Amblin. Susan Amblin alleged to the consistory court in a court paper that the will was not a lawful, last and original will. She appears to have lost the case. Perhaps she believed that her brother, William, had too large a share of her father’s will in comparison with the small bequests to her and her two sisters (12d /1s.) each.
