Will and Inventory of Ralph Godesman, husbandman, 1578

Godesman had been left £30 to support his three daughters by his uncle, parson of North Waltham. One daughter had already received her portion during his lifetime; the other two received the lease of his house and its contents in Dummer. Godesman appointed two overseers to rule his two daughters but if they went against their advice they would forfeit their share. He left a sheep to Dummer church and two bushels of wheat to the poor of the parish. His apparel was bequeathed to various men plus a bacon charnel to John Soper who was living with him. His inventory lists 68 sheep, weapons and property in Bishops Waltham.
