Will and Inventory of John Spier/Spire, maltster, 1663

Spire/Spier was a maltster with four messuages in Basingstoke, one was worked by his son Thomas and the others were bequeathed to his widow and eldest son. He had 120 quarters of malt in his loft valued at £91 and 240 bricks in his shop. He appeared to owe more than he was worth.
