Will and Inventory of John Mulford, 1573

Mulford requested a burial in the churchyard at Basing. His wife and eldest son were the executors and main beneficiaries, but there were specific bequests to one son and one daughter, with instructions for a younger or disabled daughter to be cared for by her mother and elder brother. His goods include a sword, suggesting a high staus in local society, and dagger, two woollen wheels and a linen wheel, dairy and brewing equipment and the stock and stores of a fairly substantial farm valued at £82 8s. 2d. His overseers were members of the extended local family.
