Will and Inventory of Gilbert Withers/Wither, Yeoman, 1599

Withers/Wither, son of George (d. 1584) left substantial possessions amounting to £956 13s. 8d. and lived in a house with numerous rooms. He had 181 acres of crops, 400 sheep, 50 tod of wool, 16 horses with their plough gear as well as other animals. He owned land in Wootton St Lawrence, Church Oakley and East Oakley including copses of oak and timber. He left money to the poor in these parishes as well as Dummer and asked to be buried in Church Oakley. His inventory also listed weapons and equipment for weaving.
