Will and Inventory of Christopher Sylvester/Sylfester, 1551

Sylvester died during the reign of King Edward, the directions are Protestant in tone and unusual in that two churches are endowed – Basing and Sherfield on Loddon, which probably indicates that he lived in the northern half of the parish. A modest estate, but each of his eight children received a specific bequest including a named cow for one son, and the three unmarried daughters are left a dowry. Everything else went to his wife. Although the inventory has both sheep and cattle, the cattle are relatively the more important.
