Will and inventory of Anthony Cowper, 1649

Anthony Cowper held a lease of a house with appurtenances in Mapledurwell: its location is not known. It is interesting that this will was proved in Winchester, three years after the abolition of the bishopric at a time when probate was usually only granted in London. The Winchester administration continued in the absence of the bishop.

This will and inventory are badly damaged with the top portion of each missing.
