Will of Alice Bache, 1579

This is a transcript of the will of Alice Bache, wife of John Bache the elder.
It was unusual for a wife to make a will - she would have had to have had the permission of her husband to do so. There is another irregularity in the will, in that no executor was named. The probate clerk noted at the bottom 'I can make no probation upon this testament for that there is no executor named in the same. If my master hath granted an administration you must send me word to whom and what is named, and whether I shall take [illegible] or no; also send this withall'. This suggests that the will was never formally proved, though the family may still have abided by her wishes.
The gap in the Eastnor burial registers from 1579 - 1591means that we know nothing more about Alice.
