Watchet Station

Watchet station stands at right angles to the line because it was originally the terminus of the West Somerset Railway in 1862. Only in the early 1870s did work begin on the construction of the Minehead Railway to extend the line.
Across the track stands the boat museum, the former goods shed. Note the plaque 'Come ye friends of progress' celebrating the 150th anniversary of the opening of the line and station.
