Unicorn, Somerton

This large house was possibly a substantial 16th-century farmhouse. Its frontage and porch date from the later 17th century and may mark its conversion to an inn. It was known as the Unicorn by 1786.

As a revived market town in the late 17th century Somerton supported at least seven inns and by 1760 there were 16 public houses in the town.
