Stogursey millpond and dam

The mill’s water supply is bound up with that of the castle defences. This pond south of the mill connects with the castle moat by a weir to the left and is held by the dam on the right. Sluices controlled the supply to the mill, behind bushes to the top right, and the overflow ran between two of the castle baileys south and west into the Stogursey Brook. A smaller pond was sited west of mill fed by the overflow from St Andrew’s well in the village.
