Stag's Head House

The original Stag’s Head was recorded in West Street, south of the Methodist chapel, in 1840. It remained in business until 1904 when renewal of its licence was refused on the grounds that it was in poor condition. It remained open until c.1910 and in its last three years it sold 133 barrels of beer a year, besides cider and spirits. It became a private house called Stag's Head House.
The New Inn further along West Street took its names and is now the Stag's Head inn.
