Partham house from the north east c. 1855

The painting - and early photograph - from which it was taken are valuable records of the house before it was altered in the later 19th and 20th centuries. It shows the central projection standing to full height and with the hipped roof which was removed later. The projection looks mid 17th-century and may have been a stylish new addition made by Sir Edward Bisshopp whose portait shows the front of the house in 1636.
