The paper mill at Watchet from the north-west

In this view of Watchet's paper mill from the north-west the belt of trees conceals, from front to back, the West Somerset Railway, the track of the West Somerset Mineral Railway and the canalised section of the Washford River. The paper mill uses waste paper, bales of which can be seen in the yard. Most of its buildings date from the 20th century although there has been a paper mill in Watchet for centuries. Above the factory is the tower of St Decuman’s church in whose parish Watchet lies.
[Since this was written the paper mill has ceased operating]
