The old Silk Mills Road, Taunton

This line of the old road ran down to Bishops Hull before a new road was made in the later 20th century bypassing Bishops Hull. The road crossed the railway by a level crossing, guarded in the Second World War by a sentry post just visible over the bushes. The embankment of the early 21st century Silk Mills Road, raised to cross the railway by a bridge, obliterated the former silk mill or Staplegrove factory site.
