Minehead Middle School

This school in Ponsford Road opened in 1929 as Minehead Grammar School for boys and girls. During the Second World War Regent Street Polytechnic Grammar School shared its classrooms. After the introduction of comprehensive education in 1965 the site was used by the upper school but in 1971 it became home to Minehead's new middle school for pupils aged 9 to 13. New buildings were added in 1985, 1993 and 2011 and the school has a swimming pool. There were 694 pupils and 68 staff by 1998.
