Minehead Hospital

During the First World War a hospital was established in what had been a Minehead public hall built by Piers St Aubyn in 1888--9. After the war two hospitals were considered uneconomic and Dunster was merged with Minehead. In 1920 Dunster Hospital closed and all treatment was transferred to Minehead. Known as the Luttrell Memorial Hospital, Minehead Hospital remained open until 2010. A new hospital has now opened in the south of the town.
