Minehead Harbour

Minehead replaced Dunster as the main port of West Somerset in the early 15th century. Its overseas and Irish trade flourished especially in the 17th and early 18th centuries but trade along the Bristol Channel coasts was the mainstay of the port’s economy until the early 20th century.
The harbour has been rebuilt and extended several times but today is largely a result of the early 18th-century design of Daniel Dennell.
