Minehead in the first World War

Minehead had become used to military camps and training since the late 19th century when North Hill was found to be ideal for both in the summer months. Between 1910 and 1914 the 5th battalion of the Somerset Light Infantry were drilled at Minehead. With the outbreak of war activity intensified.
