Memorial to Robert Stocker 1606

The memorial to Robert Stocker in St Michael’s church Basingstoke. The inscription reads:

Here lyeth buryed the bodie of Robert Stocker yeoman, who had issue by Ursula his wife 9 sonnes and 2 daught He depted this life ye 20 Marche 1606 being 67 yeares of age, he ledd a vertuous life & made a godly ende

The word 'ende' has had to be inserted in small font above the word 'godly' - the engraver obviously hadn't planned ahead! Above the inscription is a brass with depiction of Stocker's 11 children.
