Memorial to Margery Smith, Lansallos

This ledgerstone remounted on the south wall of the south aisle is a memorial to Margery Smith who died in 1579. It was sculpted by Peter Crocker. It portrays Margery in shallow relief dressed in a contemporary bell skirt, padded with a bum roll, with pointed stomacher and puffed sleeves. She wears the closed ruff of a married woman with cap and veil. Her clothes are richly embroidered and she carries gloves and probably a prayerbook.
