Lower Withycombe and the Gregory family

Lower Withycombe farm was part of the dismembered Monkham manor in Exford and was a freehold farm by the 18th century. The owners for over a century were the Gregory family. A long series of mortgages probably accounted for their having to sell the farm in 1858.
