Lower end of Fore Street, Castle Cary

Fore Street is not only clogged with traffic but lined with shops on the east side many of which date from the 19th century. There are several three-storey buildings, which were probably purpose-built as shops with living accommodation above. The pharmacy is an unusual early 19th-century building made of  Doulting ashlar rather than the local Cary stone.
