King Square, Bridgwater, south side

At the end of the 18th century there was a desire to continue the development of the castle site sweeping away what was left of the ruins. King Square was begun but was left unfinished in the early 19th century. The houses are plainer than those of Castle Street but still have their details of fanlights and balconies. Unfortunately many of the small window panes have been replaced with larger ones.
