Kemp Town c1842

This engraving of the early 184s shows the big investment along the cliff face in front of Kemp Town which Kemp controlled as Lord of the Manor of Brighton which gave him that authority over this foreshore. There is a tunnel that is still used by the keyholders to the gardens to gain access to this landscaped area which is now public. The buildings once houses the staff employed on the estate.
