Inventory of John Smales, Tailor, 1624

This inventory was proved in May 1624. Although, he was described as a tailor, his inventory contained neither cloth nor tools of the trade. Perhaps he had retired and sublet a small holding as he had some animals and crops. Smales is not a Mapledurwell family but one of his appraisers was William Smale of Deane, a parish some five miles away. Perhaps, John Smales also came from there.
