Inventory of Hew/Hugo Thorpe, 1594

Thorpe did not state where he lived but the names of the appraisers and overseers were well known in the parish of Old Basing. Furniture and equipment of his home were valued at £10 17s. 8d. There was no indication of how he earned his living. Probate was granted to his widow and one of those obliged to oversee was Michael Elingworth of Tunworth, gentleman, an indication that his social connections were not confined to the village.
