Former West Street mills

This is the site of mills known as Ingram mills after a late 17th-century owner. They were rebuilt as corn mills or as tucking mills several times according to the relative fortunes of agriculture and the cloth industry. There was regular rivalry with the Lower mills under the Tor over water supply. In the 1760s it became a bunting mill, for sifting bran from flour and were last recorded in 1832.
