Former Lamb Hotel in Dulverton

The Lamb was one of Dulverton's leading and largest inns. In 1766 Lamb House was divided between two tenants Thomas Brown and James Kingdom and in the 1790 Brown's share was also known as the Exchange. It was not licensed as the Lamb until 1839 when it was described as a hotel. By 1901 it was kept by William Woodbury and his family; a niece was employed as barmaid and two others as maidservants. The tap was kept by a resident tapster and his family. The extensive stabling to the rear, essential for hiring out horses to travellers and visitors, was later converted into dwellings and the inn is now flats.
