Civil parish of Ellisfield (entire), comprising cottages at Burydown, a cottage at Highwood, cottages at Lower and Upper Common, Hill Farm House, cottages at The Green, Northgate Farm House and cottages near, Widmore House and cottages, cottages at Ducks Alley, Merritts Farm, Cooper’s Farm and College Farm with cottages near to each.

The population for this census has fallen to 199 with 4 houses unoccupied. There are five farmers listed as employers.  As well as a range of workers on the land this census also has more bricklayers and men working on the railway and roads. There are three hawkers, one a fishmonger; a beer house keeper and a baker. The majority of working women are in domestic service, a large number of them at the rectory.
