Dulverton housing

These houses in Church Lane were being refurbished by 2010. The two houses to the right are older than the others, that nearest the church traditionally claimed to have been the parish clerk's house. One of the houses has two doors one of which led to an additional room at the back, now demolished, said to have been used as a dame school. The terrace was created between 1820 when there was one long house on the right set back and divided into two and one adjoining house and 1838. In 1841 and 1851 there were 10 households listed in Church Lane. In 1891 the six households who lived in the street comprised 27 people including a carpenter, two teachers, two laundresses, a labourer, a cabinet maker, a solicitor's clerk, a coal agent, a baker and the sexton.
