Brook Lane, Dunster

Brook Lane ran from the present Luttrell Arms across the medieval deer park to Loxhole Bridge on the main east-west road and so on to Cannington and beyond. It was home to the late 18th-century Dunster pottery whose surviving kiln can be seen in the photograph, which shows the lane, now partly a footpath, looking south towards High Street. Brook or Loxhole Lane was closed after the New Road, now Dunster Steep, was made in the late 18th century and its opening out of High Street was closed off by the expansion of the Luttrell Arms.
