Bishop's Palace, Wells, long gallery

The first floor when built in the 13th century would have comprised the bishop's great chamber and other rooms but in the mid 19th century Benjamin Ferrey rebuilt this floor creating a suite of three large rooms accessed from a long gallery. The gallery was richly decorated and has been restored with replica 19th-century wallpapers. Portraits of 17th and 18th century bishops line the walls and there are displays of church embroidery.
