Band performance in Blenheim gardens

The 18th-century New Road was widened to create Blenheim Road and large terraced houses were built on the north-west side from c.1879 to 1900. Although the Council obtained the right to inclose the land opposite for a park in 1904 and bought the land it deferred creating Blenheim Gardens until 1925. The park was not only laid out with walks and flower beds but there were tennis courts and a bandstand, which remains popular.
