Ansford: former linenweavers' cottages

These cottages, since altered, were linenweavers' cottages in the early 19th century and formerly had large upstairs windows for maximum light. Even after the estatblishments of factories in neighbouring Castle Cary a few weavers continued to work at home on traditional handlooms throughout the 19th century. The left hand cottage was given to Castle Cary museum.
